State Fair!

Labor Day weekend means the last days of the
Minnesota State Fair.  As her Labor Day parties are becoming a tradition,
Kimberly and I decided that we
should have our own great get-together
on Eagles Nest Lakes.
One of the most popular items at the Minnesota State Fair
are the cookies from Sweet Martha's.
Here, we see Kimberly starting the first of 12 batches of
Sweet Kimberly's Chocolate Chip Cookies.
Of course, everyone got a box to take home from the 'fair'.
Prep work for a party like this is intense.  Kimberly thinks of everything.  Multiple notepads
with menus, serving dish layouts, and an apple pie with a 1st place ribbon for a prop.
Red and white Artland Iris wine glasses, naturally.

We used "Maribeth" from Pier One for the
plates and serving pieces.

The dilled green beans are from the Ely Farmers' Market, and the napkins,
an absolutely perfect fit with the theme,  were a score from Goodwill.

The napkins reminded us of the big top tent.

Pulled pork sliders on pretzel buns were skewered
with a pickle slice on top.

Everything was on sticks.  Grilled chicken satays with
a teriyaki sesame glaze....

and shrimp, pineapple, and red peppers.

We used dry floral foam covered with burlap for our stick displays.

Deviled eggs on sticks.

Cheese curds on sticks.
And mini caramel apples on sticks.

Corn dogs on sticks.

Even Caesar salad on sticks.

Cheeses, not on sticks, and caramel popcorn in background, also not on sticks.

And over the top delicious chocolate covered bacon on a stick.

The sweet piggy makes another appearance at this party.

Twenty feet of food on sticks.

Eagles Nest party-goers having fun at the fair.

  8. What an awesomely executed party - and the food looked delish! I host a lot of family meals, and I really like this idea of everything being on the stick (but oh, how labor-intensive those salad sticks, especially, must've been!). Visiting from Rustic-Refined's feature of your fete - congrats!

    1. Hi Rita,
How right you are....the salads on a stick were one of those 'good ideas' but very difficult to put together. We are so honored to have been featured this week! Thanks for checking in, will stop by your blog today and see what you are up to this week! Kathy
